The FDA has added a warning about the risk of heart inflammation to fact sheets for Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna vaccines. India said it has found about 40 cases of the Delta coronavirus variant carrying a mutation that appears to make it more transmissible and advised states to increase testing.

  • June 30: 372,361 7-day average new cases, compared to 364,240 a week ago and 487,241 a month ago. Now confirmed 182,086,129 cases worldwide vs 179,479,600 cases last week.
  • 3,946,897 people have died (2.2% of confirmed cases) and 165,826,228 have recovered (91.1%).
  • Europe: 49,736,381 cases; 7-day avg growth of 40,774 vs 31,802 a week ago and 52,873 a month ago.
  • USA: 33,664,894 cases; 7-day avg growth of 12,463 vs 11,312 a week ago and 17,692 a month ago.
  • Vaccines: around 3.1 billion doses have been administered globally, of which 326 million in the USA and 361 million in the EU. 105 vaccines are in clinical evaluation and 185 vaccines are in preclinical evaluation.
